3 Days, 3 Quotes

So I’ve been nominated for a quote challenge by Making Sense of Complications, who has an interesting blog of scolarly ideas and curious words.

For this challenge I need to

1. Thank the person who nominated you

Thank you Making Sense!

2. Post 1- 3 quotes in three consecutive days.

First quote:

“When you throw everything up in the air anything becomes possible.”
―  Salman Rushdie, The Satanic Verses

3. Nominate 3 bloggers

Always good to give some attention to bloggers I like, but I wonder: where will it end? If each blogger nominates three more, won’t it spread like a virulent disease? First one, then four, then thirteen, then my ability to do maths runs out. Eventually we’ll exhaust new nominees and we’ll be stuck renominating and quoting each other for all eternity. Still, I guess it will keep us out of mischief. Anyway, I nominate the following, it was tricky, because there are many to great bloggers to choose from, but these three have either threatened to stop blogging or cut down and so I’m hoping to lure them out to open ground, because they are all great.

  1. Chasing Eggs for the Chickens – a chance to take a ramble through a delightful mind.
  2. Wisps of Smoke – heartfelt poetry, with fantasy and  stories thrown in. Always something new and lyrical.
  3. Siddie Bowtie & the Watercolour Orchestra – colourful, inventive and smart, wish she’d post more.

  1. Damn, now I’ll have to see how the recipients of your challenge responded, and so on and so on …

Your Rushdie quote reminded me of the end of Alice in Wonderland when she says “You’re nothing but a pack of cards!” and they all rise up in the air and …

  2. right, done and done …. post #1 up and running, and perhaps, when you’ve come across this, #2 as well. #3 is scheduled.

  3. Aww, what a nice thing to come back to! Please accept my infinite apologies for the ridiculously late reply!!! A lot of drama happened and i haven’t had access to computers or The Internet for a few months. I won’t bore you with the details, but, thankyou so much for mentioning me- and with such lovely comments attached to aforementioned mention! My computer has inconsistent functionality at present ( much like myself, haha) , but I’ll be onto it ASAP. I have a LOT of catching up to do re: everyone’s blawgs. I miss blogging. A lot!
Anyway, i agree with calmgrove up there; i definitely got some slightly “Alice” visuals with that quote. However, what immediately came to mind was Brian Greene and The Fabric of the Cosmos. In the documentary version of the book, he throws all the pages of a book in the air in the section about entropy. It’s kinda thought provoking ( both the subject of entropy and the quote). Or maybe i’m just interested in chaos? Who knows. At any rate, i’ll be back as soon as i can- stalking my fave blogs ( yours included obviously) and posting some things and stuff and stuff and things. Cheers again 🙂
